We take pleasure in inviting you to the ninth Symposium international d’art in situ, a major event, which is due to the number and quality of the guest artists and assistants as much as it is to the art trails themselves, now more than two kilometres in length. Performances, poetry recitals, conferences and round-table discussions all figure on this year’s program, as well as a forum on art and the public, a theme which has always been of the first importance for the Fondation Derouin.

As for each symposium, we wish to invite a personality who has made a mark on our times. Our choice has been Benoît Lacroix O.P., a man of culture, long memory and exploration, whose vast experience will prove most pertinent to our annual theme of “The Voyage.”

René Derouin, artistic director

This year, we invite the public to what we might call, “the itinerary of a voyage,” a voyage into the heartland of art, poetry and nature, along the paths of the JARDINS DU PRECAMBRIEN located at the Fondation Derouin site in Val-David. Here they will find twelve different stopovers, as it were, corresponding to the twelve installations, which are the work of artists from very different places and cultures all having one thing in common: a passion for art. A number of artists who are participating in this new adventure have experienced life in more than one country. From this plurality and crossbreeding of cultures, the distinctive works of the 2007 symposium “The Voyage,” have emerged.
